Summer 2014

This summer we take Kestrel to the Baltic for the best sailing to be had in Europe.

Between the 4th June and the 30th September we will sail to the Baltic and explore it for the summer, taking in all the sights including beautiful Swedish islands, St Petersburg and everything on the way.

If your idea of sailing is anchoring at secluded beaches on deserted islands with private saunas, swimming in sparkling sea, waiting for the midnight sun, and exploring numerous beautiful islands then you should not miss out on this year's summer programme. We'll spend the days sailing around incredible scenery, spend nights peacefully at anchor, and explore Scandinavian saunas. We have 14 trips over 16 weeks. Each trip is only a week or two long (but come for longer if you want) and starts and finishes in a major city, with cheap flights back to the UK. With the price of a week at £166, and weeks running throughout the summer, there is really no reason not to come along.

Follow the links to find out more about each trip. The map shows the start and end point, but cruising trips will also spend each night moored in an amazing location.

Kestrel will start with an epic crossing of the North Sea then sailing slong Limfjord through Denmark. After a couple of relaxed weeks exploring the coast of Sweden, Kestrel will arrive in Stockholm. From there, we have access to the incredible archipelago that surrounds Stockholm, and can venture out towards Aland, which forms another archipelago in Finland. After those relaxing weeks around Stockholm, Kestrel will make her way across to Helsinki, from where an exciting trip to St. Petersburg will make club history by taking a club yacht the furthest East ever, and into Russia for the first time. After all that excitement, Kestrel will return to Stockholm for another few weeks of sailing around the archipelago before reluctantly returning home.

It doesn't matter if you've never set foot on a yacht before, or if you grew up on one - these trips are fantastic fun. We'll teach you everything you need to know to help sail a yacht in the safest of environments. For those slightly more experienced, the adventurous trips will be excellent to test your seamanship skills, while also allowing some time for relaxing. Pick which ever week (or weeks) take your fancy - at a cost of only £166 per week, this is the best value yacht holiday you will ever get.

The club yacht, Kestrel, is a Sigma 38. This means she is 38 foot long, beautifully shaped, and comes with everything you need for a week's cruising - she is fully equiped with 8 bunks, table & chairs, galley (kitchen) and head (toilet). Kestrel has been lovingly owned and maintained by the club since 2008, has been on 6 summer programmes, and her sailing qualities are loved by all of us, whether on relaxed cruising or epic offshore passages.
