Overview of Course and SyllabusUpon successful completion of this course you will receive an RYA Yachtmaster Offshore Shorebased certificate. RYA Yachtmaster Shorebased Course Overview
This course will cover all aspects of navigation, meteorology, seamanship, and safety, to RYA Yachtmaster Offshore standard. The course will be taught by an experienced and expert instructor. The course will run in an intensive format with 8 hours of teaching each day for 5 days followed by a full day of exams. There are a total of four exams: Chartwork, IRPCS (International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea), Meteorology, and the General Assessment. The General Assessment paper is optional if you already hold a RYA Day Skipper Shorebased or Practical certificate. Due to the nature of this course it will be important that you review and revise the material taught during the day in the evening after dinner. There will be at least two hours of homework to do each day in order to get the most out of the course. Course Administration DetailsThe cost of the course includes everything you will need: student course pack (training charts, training almanac, and exercise booklet), course notes, access to the RYA's chartplotter simulator, and IRPCS booklet. It also includes your share of the room hire and instructor payment. Light refreshements will also be provided throughout the course at no extra cost.
