New First Aiders

Posted on the 5th December at 12:00 a.m.

By Philip Sargent

Christina (VC Training) organised two first aid courses last weekend. A necessary step for anyone wanting to become a club skipper.

See the proud holders of their shiny new RYA first aid certificates - including the lucky holder of RYA certificate number 18,000.

First aid certificates are valid for 3 years, then the holder must re-take the one-day course. You must have an in-date, valid certificate if you are a club skipper. A First Aid certificate is a requirement for candidates for the RYA/MCA Yachtmaster Coastal and RYA/MCA Yachtmaster Offshore Exams. If you want to train new sailors as a cruising instructor, you also need an in-date First Aid certificate.
