2019 Round Poros Rally

Posted on the 2nd November at 9:00 p.m.

By Philip Sargent

CUYC-trained CUYC skipper Philip was the first ever solo entry to the 2019 Round-Poros end-of-season rally last weekend - and won a medal.

Every year for more than 30 years there is an end-of-season rally circumnavigating Poros - about 15 nautical miles .

The event is organised by Greek Sails, a charter company used by CUYC since 2007 for about 10 boat-weeks of enjoyable bare-boat rental over the years.

This year Philip Sargent, senior CUYC member, came in as the first monohull (on points) sailing solo in Ellin a 32 foot Sun Odyssey built in 2002. The winds were light and and the event very relaxed. Ellin finished in 5 hours 7 minutes and the day finished with food on the quay at Greek Sails.
