This trip will be co-skippered by club instructor Ti and club skipper Arturo. Also known as the most incredible and exciting foodie/european/sailing/techie duo, we can guarantee lots of amazing food, diverse music taste, and relentless sailing! We've sailed together many times in Spain, Norway, the south coast and even to London.
Ti is a german wonder featuring amazing teaching skills, a desire to brave the sea no matter what and a strong appreciation for Arturo's cooking.
Arturo is a franco-belgo-italian engineer/baker that learned to sail around the beautiful sardinia and then joined the club at uni and progressed to become an accomplished sailor/boat-chef.
After an adventurous long-distance trip along the southern coast of Spain from Ibiza to Cadiz (with continuous night-sailing for almost week!) in 2016 and a completely different, somewhat more relaxing but just as (or even more) amazing week in the land of the never-setting sun in North Norway in 2017, we're now looking forward to dialing up the "adventure" a bit more again...
...expect no showers for a week, several night passages, and sailing in varying conditions - but also great vegetarian food (and maybe some fresh caught fish...), sunsets and sunrises, and anchoring in remote bays without any other boat around!
With a boatful of hopefully excited sailors, we will set off from Oban on Saturday evening, heading through the sound of Mull towards Tobermory. From there, we will weave around all the surrounding islands around Skye, trying to visit as many of the little islands as we can... Mull, Canna, Rum, the Shiant Isles, the Summer Isles... If the weather forecast is reasonable, we will aim to go through the Outer Hebrides, including an exciting night passage all the way to St Kilda, a little archipelago 40 miles off the coast known for its scenery, birds and historical settlements. And another night passage back...
This will be an exciting trip filled with amazing sights, and hopefully intense sailing all around. Don't be put off though, all levels of experience are welcome, Ti is an incredible teacher so all it takes is for you to be up for the challenge and ready to learn through trial by fire.
If you want to get some sense of previous trips, have a look at the blog posts about our trips across the channel to Belgium and back in 50 hours at sea, a long weekend cross-channel trip around the Channel Islands, and a weekend dash from Ipswich to London and back (including an unexpected view of the bottom of our boat)! Unfortunately Spain and Norway were too amazing to manage to put down into words... though we'll be happy to tell you our tales in person!
