Set sail on an incredible voyage exploring the rich maritime heritage and stunning natural beauty of Galicia's coastline. This journey takes you from the historic port of Gijón to the vibrant city of Vigo, with stops in A Coruña, Fisterra, and the breathtaking Cíes Islands.
Departing from Gijón, you'll head westward along the rugged northern shores of Galicia, stopping first in the ancient city of A Coruña. Take time to wander the marble-paved streets and visit the iconic Tower of Hercules lighthouse.
The next stop is Puerto de Fisterra, quite literally the end of the ancient world to the Romans. Stroll the beach where the Camino de Santiago arrives, watching pilgrims celebrate their journey's end.
Then it's on to the Cíes Islands, a true paradise of unspoiled nature, idyllic coves, and beaches constantly ranked among the best in the world. Hike the trails, snorkel in crystal waters, and savor the serenity.
Finally, arrive in the lively city of Vigo to cap off the voyage amid the vibrant culture, food and festive harborfront.
Luke is the vice-commodore of sailing and organizes the Cambridge University Yacht Club's summer programme. Sailing is a huge passion of his, and he loves being able to share that passion with others at CUYC. Luke is a skipper for the club with RYA Yachtmaster certification. He has experience ranging from cruising and inshore/offshore racing to weekend trips around the English coast and longer voyages to places like France, the Netherlands, and Norway. Luke also represents Cambridge on the blues race team through inshore and offshore racing events as well as the annual varsity regatta. With his sailing expertise and enthusiasm for being on the water, Luke is excited to lead the club's summer sailing programme.
