The West Beckons....
On this trip we start in Plymouth and will explore the nice cruising grounds on the Cornish and Devon Coasts
This will be more of a cruising and exploring trip than a serious sailing trip. We will take our time to venture on land and walk some of the South West Coast Path, finding a pub for lunch.
To the east of Plymouth, we may cruise as far as Tor Bay, where the fishing towns of Brixham and Torquay face each other over a scenic bay. Both towns are known for their seafood restaurants and photogenic sea fronts. If we get there, we can spend a day exploring the towns.
As we head West of Plymouth, the coast is queiter, wilder, and stunning. Many small coves with fishing villages await. We can anchor or pick up a buoy and row in to the shore for a walk around the coast.
We may get as far west of Falmouth, a smaller town than Plymouth.
As above, this is likely to be a slower and less adventurous trip than other CUYC trips.
As a crew member, you'll sleep on board the yacht in your sleeping bag and contribute to helping sailing the boat, as well as with the shopping, cooking, and cleaning. The first mate and skipper will be on hand to teach those new to sailing the basics.
On top of the base cost of the trip, you will need to cover expenses such as food and marina fees (around £50 to £80) and pay for your own travel to and from Plymouth.
Once the crew has been confirmed, the skipper may arrange for the crew to meet in Cambridge to get to know each other.
