The Winter Ball - now in its second year - is CUYC's annual extravaganza. The Club has over 100 members although many of you know just the 7 other crew mates you shared a Summer Programme trip with this or a previous summer. The Winter Ball brings together the whole Club: Committee, Skippers, CUYC Race Squad, guests and all members of the Club who want to attend! In 2023, we had over 80 people attend the Ball, including the Head of Cambridge Sport, Nick Brooking, Club founder, Hywel, Chief Instructor, Jordan, and guest speaker, Tom Kneen, who won the previous ROLEX Fastnet Race aboard his yacht, Sunrise.
This year, the Winter Ball is being held in Emmanuel College and will feature the usual drinks reception, black-tie dinner, speeches and after party, although this year there will also be a Ceilidh (scottish dance everyone gets involved with - led by a caller, which means you don't need to know how to do it beforehand. It's a lot of fun and everyone can give it a go).
Once all guests are confirmed, we will be in touch with an information pack, including the dining menu, arrival information, itinerary, place a table (seating plan) and guest speaker. Please indicate your dietary requirements on sign up. We will send out a form for guests to request particular seating arrangements. At any point you can direct queries to the Commodore, Callum, via commodore@cuyc.org.uk.
