So time for another fun sailing trip! As this date is pretty much Halloween season, I thought why not run a Halloween themed trip:
We will probably not look like that. Turns out a google search for: "halloween sailing", "pumpkin yacht", or "spooky yacht" doesn't come up with anything good. At least I have a good photo from last year!
The weather forecast will largely determine where we can go. We might head south for the River Blackwater, with its eerie partially decommissioned nuclear power plant, historical WW2 buildings, and beautiful nature reserve. Or perhaps head north for a ghostly ale in scenic Southwold. Or otherwise find a nice, spooky anchorage or mooring buoy in Walton Backwaters, a bit closer to home. If people feel so inclined, we can get some pumpkins to carve on Saturday afternoon/evening. Heading farther north or south might leave us with less pumpkin-carving time but more sailing (especially if we go north). No matter where we go, and what the autumn weather throws at us, we should have a good time!
This is mainly a trip for beginners, but as with all of our trips it is a very good chance to get some sailing experience or some theory into action! I'm sure it will be fun, whatever the case.
To come on any CUYC trips you must be a member of the club, and you do this as you sign up - simples! Membership costs £15 and lasts for a year from the date of the trip. You will also be required to pay for your share of the trip expenses after the trip - £25. This includes food, diesel and mooring fees spent during the weekend. Pretty good deal when you think of the cost of a hotel and meals for two nights, and add to that two full days of sailing and it's a bargain!
