Stockholm & Aland adventurous archipelago week! This is the perfect week for those wanting to try out a couple of longer passages but without the need to cover big miles every day. We should have lots of flexibility to make the best of the weather.
The rough plan weather permitting is to find our sea legs around Stockholm, before a ~70 mile passage across to the Åland Islands. The Åland Islands are an autonomous region of Finland. They're known for their 6,700 island archipelago, stunning nature, maritime history, and unique cultural identity, including their Swedish language and traditions.
We'll spend a few days there to find some rural saunas, secluded anchorages, swim spots and hikes. Then towards the end of the week we'll make another passage back to Stockholm.
I'm Fraser, the skipper. I studied engineering 2015-19 and loved CUYC summer programs every year. In recent years I've been skippering, including 5 months working as a flotilla skipper in Croatia. I love fair-weather cruising, rolling in high seas, a swim and a beer at a quiet anchorage.
Apart from the trip cost you pay when you sign up, there will also be expenses for food, marinas and diesal during the week. These will be sorted out on the trip via the Splitwise app, and usually come around to £100. You must also pay for your own transport to and from the handover marina.
See the "What to Bring" tab for the full list, but bring warm clothing, seasickness remedies if needed, sleeping bag, personal items, passport, and a spirit of adventure!
