I am Conor! I’m a student at King’s studying the atmosphere. I have been sailing since I was 15, where I learned on dinghies on my native Isle of Skye in the north of Scotland. I only got into sailing larger boats at Cambridge, and have been sailing with CUYC for over 2 years. The club has offered some wicked opportunities to sail in some amazing places with some amazing people. I basically absolutely love everything about sailing – the sea, the wind, the adventure and the technical aspects of a boat. I particularly enjoy being able to visit places you wouldn’t otherwise - exciting and interesting places. I really like having fun. I qualified as a CUYC skipper relatively recently (March), so I am looking forward to spreading my wings and doing some excellent sailing as a skipper.
What's your favourite meal to cook on Skylark? While onboard we hope to cook up some wicked things – my particular favourite to cook on board is Mexican burritos, but I am always open to experimenting and trying some random things!
This trip looks excellent – a nice varied bag of possibilities and opportunities. I have never been to Ireland before, so I am very excited to explore, what looks to me, to be the most beautiful and interesting part of Ireland’s coast.
Starting in Kinsale we will work our way around the coast to Galway.
Some of the opportunities I am most keen to explore:
Other things to expect/hope for: Cliffs, caves, puffins, sandy beaches, whales, dolphins, sharks, islands, swimming, Irish accents, fishing, Guinness, mussels, sunshine, Atlantic awesomeness, hilarious jokes, delicious food.
