This will be a fairly adventurous end to the Summer Programme as Skylark makes her passage home to Ipswich from northeast Scotland. With over 400 miles to sail in six days, and a limited number of harbours where Skylark can spend a full tidal cycle, we will be doing more sailing than sightseeing! Where we stop will depend on the weather, but might include places like Newcastle, Grimsby, and Immingham - and maybe the Farne Islands if the weather is suitable!
This trip may be best suited to those already with some sailing experience looking to increase their total mileage and night hours - and gain a YM qualifying passage or two. If you have any questions about the trip, please don't hesitate to get in touch with Povl Abrahamsen (profile)!
Please note this trip will begin on Monday 24th September and end on Sunday 30th September.
Hi! I'm Povl, and am an oceanographer at the British Antarctic Survey. I have been sailing with CUYC on and off since 2009 and skippering since 2015, with some highlights being helping take Kestrel across to Norway in 2013, crewing on the very first Skylark trip from Slovenia to Croatia in 2016, and sailing on leg two of this year's summer programme, from Cornwall to Ireland via the Scillies.
