Adventure Factor: 4/5
Set sail on an epic summer cruising around Scotland exploring the Hebrides and the iconic Isle of Skye!
Oban and Ullapoool are about 100 NM apart on the north-west coast of Scotland, an area well known for cruising. As a slightly adventurous trip, and weather permitting, we will be heading out to the Outer Hebrides. These are spectacular and remote islands, many uninhabited, that are difficult to get to.
Prior sailing experience is recommended for this extended coastal passage, but adventurous novices are welcome. Be prepared for some long days sailing, potentially overnights, but many relaxed days as well.
Depart: Oban, Saturday August 15th (Midday)
Arrive: Ullapool, Saturday August 22nd (Midday)

Hello, my name is Joe and I am your skipper for this trip. I have just finished a PhD at Cambridge, have done a week on each of the last four summer programmes (Balearics, Norway, Galicia, Baltic), and skippered for the last two.

The prices for the trip are at the top of the page. Apart from the trip cost you pay when you sign up, there will also be expenses for food, marinas and diesal during the week. These will be sorted out on the trip via the Splitwise app, and usually come around to around £100. You must also pay for your own transport to and from the handover marina.
Ok, this could be a bit complicated given we are arriving at a different port to where we started! Oban is very well connected and easy to reach by train. However, Ullapool is not. There are two coaches each day back to Inverness at 10am and 6:30pm. We can either stop the trip a bit early to make the 10am coach on Saturday, or we could stay the night in Ullapool (we would have to book accomodation as the new crew will have Skylark). Will put up for a crew discussion once everyone has signed up, and not everyone has to do the same thing.
Bring warm clothing, seasickness remedies if needed, sleeping bag, personal items, some form of id, and a spirit of adventure! The skipper can give a much more detailed packing list closer to the time.
