Adventure Factor: 4/5
Pretend you're a 7th-century Irish monk and cross the Irish Sea to the Inner Hebrides!
The plan is loose at the moment, but we'll hop around the Irish coast starting in beautiful Donegal, seeing some gorgeous Irish islands, practicing our Gaeilge, and searching for the best pint in Ireland.

At some point we'll cross the Irish sea to Scotland. This will involve sailing on a shift system and overnight sailing, but it still shouldn't be too demanding.

When we arrive, we can explore the gorgeous Inner Hebrides, seeing the likes of Mull, Islay, and Jura. Perhaps we'll stop by a distillery or two. Then, we'll end in Oban, where we'll give the boat a nice clean, say our tearful goodbyes, and be on our merry way.

Anyone and everyone is welcome to join, whether you're an experienced sailor or you've never sailed before: Your skipper and first mate will teach you the ropes! But since there will be a long passage, make sure you're okay with the possibility of discomfort.
You'll need to be at the marina in Donegal at noon on Saturday, August 1st. We then need to be in Oban, have cleaned the boat, and be off it by Saturday, August 8th. We'll hammer down the exact itineraries when we have a crew.

My name is Guilherme (profile) and I'll be your skipper for this trip! I've been in CUYC since 2019, crossed the Channel and Biscay, navigated the Coast of Death, dodged rocks in the Baltic, and skippered a number of weekend trips for the club. I love adventurous sailing, navigating by the stars, but also loafing around, swimming in the sea, catching some rays, and drinking caipirinhas. My priorities when sailing are always that the trip be safe and fun. Hopefully the trip will included all of the above. If you have any questions, comments, or concerns, feel free to message me!

Hey, I'm Adam and I'll be Guil's first mate on our passage this August. I started sailing dinghies in Poland when I was 12 and did my first yacht sailing course in Croatia a couple years later. I've been mostly sailing in the Med but have also really enjoyed a week in the Baltic with CUYC last summer. I can't wait to have some time off writing up my PhD whilst exploring the Irish and Scottish coastlines this summer! See you on the water.
Apart from the trip cost you pay when you sign up, there will also be expenses for food, marinas, and diesel during the week. These will be sorted out on the trip via Splitwise or whatever. You also have to pay for your own transport to and from the handover marina.
See the "What to Bring" tab for the full list, but bring warm clothing, seasickness remedies if needed, sleeping bag, personal items, some form of id, and a spirit of adventure!
