Have a look at the general weather forecast for the week, and think about the time of year. This will instruct you on what sort of things to bring with you.
Please pack your things into a collapsible holdall or rucksack. Please do not bring a large rigid suitcase, as they can be hard to stow on board. If you have any questions about the type or size of your bag, feel free to email Jordan Billiald (profile).
Here is a list of some things we recommended you bring on the trip:
Remember that there will be club boots and waterproofs available for everyone on the trip, for a small rental fee. These are all Musto Offshore MPX and include a jacket and salopettes (trousers). Please remember to select the option when signing up if you will be needing them.
Do not forget to bring a sleeping bag. It can often be much colder on the water than it is on land, so we usually recommend a good all-seasons sleeping bag. There is no bedding on board, and we will not have any spare sleeping bags for you to borrow. A small travel pillow and ear plugs are recommended to improve your night's sleep on the boat!
As long as you are careful, it's fine to bring electronics on board. Most people bring phones and cameras on trips. The boat has a sound system for playing music. You can stream music from your phone with Bluetooth or an auxillary audio cable. Think carefully before bringing a laptop, as you are unlikely to use it (unless you need it for some reason). However people have brought them on trips in the past without any problems. There are USB ports for charging phones and other electronic devices. There are also mains sockets, which however only work when we are moored at a marina.
A good precautionary measure is to bring seasickness tablets with you on the trip. Two brands that work well in our experience are Stugeron and Kwells, both available from most pharmacists.
Please confirm with your skipper what travel documents will be required for the trip. You will need a valid passport. If you are a non-EU citizen and will need a visa for holiday travel, please let us know when you sign up and contact Jordan Billiald (profile). Please make sure you have your own travel insurance, as the club will not be providing coverage.
