This spring Skylark is down in the Solent, and we'll be making the most of this to explore some new sailing grounds! If you guys like Mediterranean sailing, this is the weekend for you. Lovely blue clear waters, nice June weather, and hopefully some lovely wind. We’ll sail through the Solent to get to Yarmouth on the Isle of Wight and enjoy a lovely pub dinner and some nice morning walks around the island. On Sunday we’ll sail back and use our time to practise a bit of marina manoeuvres once we get to Hamble. Chill, relaxing — hopefully it’s warm and sunny enough that we can swim, maybe use the paddle board on board, and enjoy our time on the water.
Itinerary
Friday – Arrive in Hamble
Saturday – Sail around the Solent and on to the Isle of Wight
Sunday – More sailing, ending up back in Hamble in time for trains back to Cambridge
Costs
Apart from the trip cost you pay when you sign up, there will also be expenses for food, marinas, and diesel during the weekend. These will be sorted out on the trip via the Splitwise app. You must also arrange your own transport to Hamble Point Marina and back (it's almost 4 hours on the train each way).
Your Skipper: Lidia Ripoll Sánchez
I'm a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Cambridge, having graduated with my PhD last year from the same university. I’ve been sailing with CUYC for the last 4 years and been on the committee for 3. This year I’m the Vice Commodore of Sailing ⛵️. I’ve been sailing around the Mediterranean since I was a kid, and I’ve crossed Biscay, the Channel, and the Baltic, along with many other amazing experiences on the water. I love sailing and I love sharing this passion with other people.
Your First Mate: Annabelle Wurmser
I'm a final year PhD. This year I’m the Vice Commodore of Training ⛵️. I’m a competent first mate and I bring the vibes to the trip!
