Join Skylark's crew for the unique opportunity to sail out of Central London down the River Thames through the iconic Thames Barrier and around the coast to her home port of Ipswich. From the hustle and bustle of central London, we'll sail a coastline which has many hidden secrets, pretty little towns and peaceful backwaters, as well as strange post-military relics like SeaLand. We'll be aiming to explore some of these over the course of the trip.
CUYC has teamed up with Blue Tap, the #OneLessCambridge campaign and Sail Britain's plastics awareness programe, to reduce plastic pollution from water bottles. This trip will explore the theme of marine plastic pollution and to highlight the efforts the Club and it's Members are making on the issue. The skipper has secured the free use of the events pontoon at St Katherine's Dock for an event run jointly with Sail Britain at the start of the trip. All members are welcome to attend on the 12th and 13th Oct at St Katherine's Dock and at an afternoon talk on the subject in Cambridge on the 6th Oct, location TBC.
As with all CUYC trips, no experience of sailing is neccessary and everyone is welcome. Look forward to seeing you onboard!
