This trip is going to be a fun one! Leaving from Plymouth (or possibly Falmouth), we will probably meander our way along the Cornish coast as the weather allows! We will enjoy some good wildlife, and hopefully great food onboard and in the pub!
Some of the scenery we can expect:
As with most CUYC trips, it will be a mix of sailing and time to explore on land - it depends on what the crew wants and what their experience allows for!
As a crew member, you'll sleep on board the yacht in your sleeping bag and contribute to the general running of the boat - including the sailing! (And the cooking, shopping, cleaning blah blah). There will be lots of opportunities for those new to sailing to get experience and learn from the skippers how the boat works!
Expenses will be shared for food and marina fees - this usually comes out as between £50 - £80 for the week.
Likely, once the crew is set, we can meet in Cambridge for a drink or something so we all know each other!
There are a whole number of potential exciting and beautiful things we could encounter. We'll likely figure out the plan once the crew is confirmed, but here are some possibilities:
- A chance to explore those small not-often-explored places
- Wildlife: dolphins, whales, basking sharks, seals and maybe more
- Swimming and snorkelling
- Good food on board
- Cornish culture: stuff like pasties and extinct languages
- Good exciting sailing
Please contact Povl Abrahamsen (profile) if you have any questions about the trip. Importantly: please do not make any travel arrangements untill your place has been confirmed and you have heard from your skipper!
