The section of coast between Stavanger and Bergen offers a huge variety of cruising grounds. From the spectacular Lysefjorden to the wild offshore island of Utsire - made famous by the Shipping Forecast.
Departing Stavanger, we will head straight into the dramatic rift of Lysefjorden. Although not as huge as the fjords further North, Lysefjord offers all the drama with vertical cliffs nearly a kilometer high, cascading waterfalls, and the famous Pulpit Rock projecting over a sheer 800m drop.
From there we will sail North through some wild islands towards the beautiful town of Haugesund before visiting the Isle of Utsire and further North still, the archipelago made famous buy the Shetland Bus, a heroic link between Norway and Shetland for allied WWII intelligence agents.
|This trip will be led by Oliver Beardon, an experienced club skipper. Oliver has sailed extensively, is a club instructor, and founded Sail Britain, a sailing and ocean research organisation based on his experience with CUYC. He also has a reputation for making the most out of summer trips!|
We have ensured that there are either direct flights or flights via Oslo from London airports on the start and end date of the trip - however, please do NOT book any flights until your place has been confirmed and the skipper has been in touch with you. You will probably travel together as a crew.
