Maintenance of the Club Yacht

There is no requirement for members to help maintain the club yacht, however doing yacht maintenance can be very beneficial in teaching you about boat systems and understanding more throughly the inner workings of a boat - invaluable if something breaks whilst you are sailing on any yacht and you need to fix it. Like with cars - those that never look under the bonnet tend to be the people who have the most break downs. Knowing about maintenance not only helps you know how to fix things when sailing, but more importantly makes you understand more fully the tolerances and mechanics and therefore how to avoid breakages in the first place!

If you would like to be involved in maintenance then please e-mail the Bosun

There will be a variety of different maintenance tasks including those that can be done in Cambridge. Most maintenance will take place on specific weekends and it is likely that there will be one day's maintenance followed by a day's free sailing to enjoy the fruits of your labours. More specific details on maintenance will emerge as we experiment with different ideas.
